Congratulations to all 4 Berkshire County Dance Company Youth members who took part in the Berkshire Young Dance Artist of the Year Competition in March. All 4 company dancers, and students from Brakenhale School, were finalists in the competition and each walked away with a prize.
Jaime Leishman took home the Judges Choice Award, Tyler Jones won the Runner up Choreography category and Jade Ackuaku won the Contemporary/Lyrical solo category. Freya Harris won the Choreography category and went on to be crowned Berkshire Young Dance Artist of the Year with her piece ‘Dystopia’.
All of the performers gave fantastic performances and worked so hard in their tech rehearsals to make the piece a great success. Keep an eye on these dancers. They will go far in the dance world!

During the February half term, BCDCY worked with the very talented performer and choreographer Jordan James Bridge to create a new work to be showcased at the Lift Off Dance Festival on 19th March. The piece features 7 of the company’s dancers and looks at ‘electricity’ as a starting point.
Born in Manchester, Jordan was introduced to dance at the age of 14. After his completion of BTEC & A Level Dance, Jordan furthered his training at London Contemporary Dance School where he graduated with a First Class BA Hons in Contemporary Dance. Jordan has performed works by Alexander Whitley, Kerry Nicholls, Tony Adigun, Richard Alston, Delphine Gaborite, Jenna Lee & Hubert Essakow to name but a few. Upon graduating, Jordan joined Alexander Whitley Dance Company where he performed nationally and internationally for the company. As a versatile performer, he has also had the opportunity to work with director Glenn Ball for the SKY ONE Got To Dance advert & intro episode in 2014 in which he was the voguing male. Jordan is currently with Tavaziva Dance Company and has been recently looking to develop his own choreographic voice.
